1. DDR4 Memory Compatibility

What types of DDR4 memory are supported?

The platform supports ECC RDIMM and standard desktop DDR4 memory.

Compatibility Note: ECC UDIMM and LRDIMM have not been separately verified in the current compatibility information. If you plan to use these memory types, compatibility should be confirmed before purchasing memory in quantity.

Can DDR4-2666 memory be used with the Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4?

Yes. DDR4-2666 memory can be installed and will automatically operate at 2400 MT/s with the Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4 platform. Native DDR4-2400 memory can also be used.

Is Samsung M391A2K43BB1-CTD supported?

The Samsung M391A2K43BB1-CTD is a 16GB DDR4-2666 ECC UDIMM. Compatibility with this specific ECC UDIMM module has not been individually verified, so we recommend confirming compatibility before using this module for production or multi-unit deployment.

2. CPU Cooler Compatibility

The BKHD-2011-MATX V1.1 uses an M4 square CPU cooler mounting pattern with approximately 80 × 80 mm mounting-hole spacing.

An LGA 2011-3 compatible CPU cooler with the corresponding mounting hardware can be used.

For compact systems, always check the total installed cooler height against the chassis clearance. If the chassis has a maximum CPU cooler height of 70 mm, the complete cooling solution must remain below this limit.

3. Above 4G Decoding, Resizable BAR and GPU Support

The current BIOS supports:

  • Above 4G Decoding
  • Resizable BAR

How to access the BIOS option

Step 1: Enter the BIOS setup.
Step 2: Press Ctrl + Shift + H to display the hidden BIOS options.
Step 3: Navigate to:
Advanced → PCI Subsystem Settings → Above 4G Decoding

Can an Intel Arc A310 be installed?

From a physical and PCIe interface perspective, an Intel Arc A310 can be installed in the motherboard's PCIe x16 slot and will operate through the motherboard's PCIe 3.0 x16 interface.

Testing Recommended: Actual GPU performance and application compatibility, including hardware video transcoding, should be verified using the final operating system, driver and application environment.

4. PCIe Bifurcation

The BIOS supports PCIe bifurcation on the motherboard's PCIe x16 interface.

Available configurations include:

  • x8 / x8
  • x4 / x4 / x4 / x4
  • x8 / x4 / x4
  • x4 / x4 / x8

This allows the PCIe x16 connection to be divided among multiple PCIe devices when used with a compatible PCIe expansion or adapter card.

5. SATA and M.2 NVMe Storage

The SATA interfaces are provided by the chipset, while the M.2 NVMe SSD interfaces use independently allocated PCIe signals.

Result: The SATA interfaces and M.2 NVMe interfaces can be used simultaneously. Using an M.2 NVMe SSD does not disable the SATA interfaces because of shared lanes in this configuration.

6. CPU C-State and PCIe ASPM

The current BIOS allows configuration of:

  • CPU C-State
  • PCIe ASPM

These settings can be adjusted when optimizing a system for lower idle power consumption.

For 24/7 NAS or server applications, we recommend first confirming system stability using the default BIOS configuration. C-State and PCIe ASPM can then be adjusted according to the required balance between idle power consumption, device compatibility and system stability.

There is currently no single validated low-power BIOS profile recommended for every NAS configuration. Actual results may vary depending on the CPU, memory, PCIe devices, storage devices, operating system and workload.

Important Compatibility Note

Hardware compatibility can depend on the motherboard revision, BIOS version, processor, memory module, PCIe device, operating system and device firmware.

For production deployments or volume purchases, BKHD recommends validating the final hardware configuration before purchasing components in quantity.
